BSNL-Nokia to launch first smart pole

Finnish telecom gear-maker Nokia to launch its first smart pole deployed at the state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s (BSNL) premise on March 21.

Nokia’s smart pole initiative is a part of its intelligent infrastructure transformation program. The equipment would integrate poles with smart LED lighting systems, CCTV cameras, digital billboards and environmental sensors that could also have a revenue potential for the operator.

As per alliance, the telecom technology vendor will also provide its compact and deployable solutions using LTE technology for mission-critical communications to assist the service provider in its disaster relief efforts.
