Tricity Mobility Plan

Tricity Mobility Plan

The UT administration has proposed to set up a separate Tricity body of Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula under its mobility plan to improve transport connectivity. The plan was submitted to NITI Aayog recently.

Under the mobility plan, the administration is working on promoting hybrid & electric vehicles and installing charging stations. Besides, Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) is also going to induct electric buses in its fleet. They also planned to promote e-rickshaws.

To improve public transport, the administration has roped in Agence Francaise Development (AFD), a French government agency. The administration in 2016 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the French agency on technical cooperation in the field of sustainable urban development, including public transport.
