Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited plans for model-street with intelligent traffic solutions

Smart Janpath, a five-kilometer stretch which is a part of the Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) proposal have planned to develop a model street. Once complete, Janpath will be redeveloped with the introduction of lane driving, streetscape design, beautification, landscaping, intersection design and other infrastructure.

The authorities have plan to control array of services delivered to the people through an intelligent city operations and management centre now known as Bhubaneswar operation centre. It will monitor, operate, and control services including traffic management, incident management, surveillance, emergency operations and disaster management.

Work is on to set up a temporary command control room at Bhawani Mall in Saheed Nagar at Bhubaneshwar. A video-wall of more than 100ft in length has been installed, which will be used to monitor traffic movement using large volume of closed circuit television footage and highly sophisticated sensor data.

BSCL is also introducing adaptive traffic signal control solution at 58 junctions to regulate vehicle flow. For the ease of pedestrians, 14 pelican systems will be installed at city junctions.
