Bicycle sharing and last mile connectivity

The 12km long high mobility corridor designed by traffic department of the Surat Municipal Corporation would have at least 16 stops from where people can get bicycles that can provide   last mile connectivity to them in the city and help cut down on travel time. The bicycles would be fitted with GPS system and electronic card to monitor their movements. This Rs 13.5 crore project would be implemented by the year end.

Surat city has over 50 lakh population and 28 lakh private vehicles.  Majority of the 24 bus stops on high mobility corridor will be made under the flyovers. Where there are no flyovers, the bus stops will be made on the side and called curb stations. Passengers would get a bus from here every three minutes.
