Riding without helmet can now be detected

Videonetics, the World-leading Visual Computing Platform Development company and an exhibitor at the October 2018 TrafficInfraTech Expo, has announced India’s first revolutionary smart traffic solution video based ‘No Helmet Detection System’, that aims to bring down road accidents and enforce traffic discipline  by penalizing two-wheeler riders who do not wear helmets.  Based on Videonetics AI framework, the system can  eliminate physical deployment of law enforcement officers on the road to intercept violators.

According to World Health Organization (WHO) research, there are 1.25 million people in the world die every year in road accident. At present, India accounts for highest number of road deaths in the world and amongst the vehicle categories, two wheelers have high rate of fatal accidents than four wheelers. Some of the common reasons of road accidents are over speeding, drunken driving, avoiding safety gears like seat belts and helmets, distraction to driver to name a few. As per the findings, wearing a helmet can reduce the risk of severe injury by 72% and the risk of death by 39%.

Once the NHDS detects two-wheeler offenders with vehicle number plate, the system will automatically issue e-Challan along with incident proof to their residential address. The enormous potential of NHDS empowers Videonetics Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) portfolio to enhance real-time traffic monitoring, identify & process traffic offences, eventually it further modernizing the traffic management solution and establishing traffic regulation and enforcement across the city.  Dr. Tinku Acharya, MD & Founder of Videonetics said that it is commendable that  Videonetics R&D team has been  continuously innovating state-of-the-art technologies for Indian environment with indigenously developed Indian Intellectual Properties.

With this latest addition, Videonetics expands ITMS portfolio that encompasses Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system, Red Light Violation Detection (RLVD) system, Over Speed Detection, Traffic Congestion Detection, Wrong Parking Detection, No Parking Detection, Smart ITMS Dashboard to name a few. ITMS is successfully deployed at many cities such as Kolkata, Indore, Bhopal, Bangalore & many more; that has achieved benchmark in replacing tedious manual processes to track, regulate and analyse vehicle movement on roads, and to enforce traffic rules for safety of citizens towards success of national Smart City mission.
